We have searched for this Chagall suite for the last 20 years, so you can imagine our pleasure at having finally found it.

This is early Chagall where the subject matter of La Fontaine’s Fables left little room for the sweetness that is often to be found in the later work.

The particular delight in these etchings is to see Chagall’s hand-colouring, bringing the subject matter to life in the most extraordinary fashion. Chagall coloured just 85 sets. We have seen only one other set on offer in America where over 60 of the prints have already sold at prices over £4000. We are therefore particularly pleased to be able to offer these at between £2950 and £3250.
